General Notes: Husband - James Shields

---

He was a farmer, a democrat, an elder in the Presbyterian church, and served one term as county commissioner of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He and his wife had six children.

He was born at the old family homestead and was very prominent in the community, having served as county commissioner. He was later elected justice of the peace, and was also a farmer of considerable wealth, he having inherited the old homestead from his father.
