General Notes: Husband - James McKinley

Born in 1791. [HVC 1890, 1000]
He came to Venango County, Pennsylvania, from Westmoreland County in 1837. He and his wife had eight children, two died young.

He lived for a time in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and in the state of Ohio, in 1834 coming to Venango County, Pennsylvania, and locating in Irwin (later Clinton) Township, on a tract originally settled by John Donaldson, Mr. McKinley purchasing from his successor, Judge Robert Mitchell. His location was west of Clintonville, and the land was owned by his descendants into the twentieth century. By trade he was a carpenter and cabinetmaker, and he followed that calling in connection with farming for some time, but his efforts were devoted principally to agriculture after he settled in Venango County, and he was one of the prosperous men of the township as well as a trusted official, serving as school director in Irwin and Clinton Townships and taking part in local affairs in other capacities as well. In politics he was a Whig and Republican, and in religion a member of the Associate Presbyterian (later the United Presbyterian) Church, serving as a member of the Session from 1851 to the close of his life.
