General Notes: Husband - Alexander McMullen

He was reared on his father's farm. In 1814, when his brother, James P. McMullen, was drafted into the service of the United States, he volunteered in his brother's stead and served with Capt. Samuel Gordon's company, of Colonel Fenton's regiment, of which he was promoted to be a sergeant. He participated in the battles of Chippewa and Lundy's Lane and was mustered out with his regiment at Albany, New York. In 1819 he removed to Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and completed the improvements begun by his father in 1790. The farm was named "Dargle" after the Highland home of the McMullens. He was a county commissioner of Indiana County and held other offices.
