He secured the mail privileges at McLallen's Corners, Erie County, Pennsylvania, in 1869, being a special route from that point to Mill Village and return, and was its Post-master for twelve years. The year 1873, he erected a building which was occupied as general store and post office.

He and his wife were mem-bers of the Christian Church.
