General Notes: Husband - Robert McMurphy

He emigrated from Ireland to New Castle County, Delaware, and died about 1777, the date of his will, which was written by George Reed, the signer of the Declaration of Independence, who was also the executor. In the will Robert McMurphy, styles himself as of Middletown, Delaware, though he actually lived about two miles northeast of that place. He names in his will his brother John, and his sisters Jean and Margaret, “still in Ireland.” Among the property he disposed of were five farms and two saw mills.
