He was a member of Company C (Capts. C. M. Over and C. C. Cochran), Tenth Pa. Reserves. He was severely wounded at the second battle of Bull Run.
Sergeant 'Lewis William' McQUAID invalided out of 39th/10th PA Vols "Venango Grays", Dec 1862, after wounded at 2nd Bull Run.
He left seven children: two sons and three daughters by his first wife, and two sons by his second wife.
