General Notes: Husband - Alexander Mensch

A cut with an axe when a young man unfitted him in after-life for manual labor. He served as a soldier in the War of 1812 and was for many years engaged in mercantile business and hotel keeping. From 1861 until his death he affiliated with the Republican party. He was a member of the United Brethren church and raised a family of eight children, of whom seven were still living in 1890.
