He moved to Nittany valley, Center County, near Salona, Pennsylvania, from Hartleton, Pennsylvania, and became the owner of a most desirable farm, later bought by his son-in-law George Weymouth. He followed barn building as well as farming. He was a Democrat in politics and a Methodist in religion.
