Civil War: he was in company F, 57th Pennsylvania volunteers.
He commenced the study of dentistry at thirty-two years of age with Dr. J. R. Pierce, of Livermore, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and engaged in practice at Willet, Washington township, Indiana County, in 1865.
