General Notes: Husband - James St. Clair, Sr.

He emigrated to America from the north of Ireland about 1760 and settled in York County, Pennsylvania. He served in the revolutionary army, and was a first cousin of Major General Arthur St. Clair.

James St. Clair, Sr., was a Revolutionary soldier and grandfather of former Senator St. Clair, of Pennsylvania. His parents were natives of the North of Ireland, and he was born in eastern Pennsylvania. He lived nine miles from York, where he owned a valuable farm and mill, and he was not only a prosperous citizen of his time but an earnest sympathizer with the Colonial cause, serving throughout the Revolutionary war. [HAC 1914, 417] [HIC 1913, 620, 803, 1014]

He married and they removed to Washington County, Pennsylvania, at a very early period.
