One might wonder if he was married twice (possibly both wives named Elizabeth); the Mitchell book gives 1880 as the year of his wife's death, but their tombstone shows 1908; and the year of birth for daughter Filinda would have her mother giving birth at only sixteen years of age, four years before marriage - could Filinda have been a daughter by a first wife?
