General Notes: Husband - Irvin F. Mong

He was educated in the public schools, Reidsburg Institute and Edenboro state normal school, being a gradu­ate of the latter institution in the class of Sep­tember, 1878. He taught school for seven years in Ashland township, then became a traveling salesman for J. Klee & Company of New York City; then with M. Oppenheim & Company of Pittsburgh, continuing with the latter house eighteen years. In September, 1911, he returned from business life to a farm of fifty acres in Ashland township, which he owned for more than thirty years. He was also agent for the Studebaker and Ford automobile agencies.
He has always been active in the affairs of the Republican party in Clarion county, and in 1892-1895 served as county auditor. In 1898 he was appointed commercial appraiser for Clarion county, serving one year, the only Republican that ever held that office in the county. He served as school director for twenty-seven years in Ashland township, being at the time of the passage of the new school law the oldest school director in point of con­tinuous service in the state. He was prominent in the Masonic order, belonging to Edenboro Lodge, No. 550, Free and Accepted Masons; Clarion Chapter, No. 259, Royal Arch Masons; Talbolt Commandery, No. 43, Knights Temp­lar, of Oil City; and Coudersport Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, in which he attained the thirty-second degree.
