General Notes: Husband - Rev. Samuel H. Nesbit, D.D.

His parents came to America from the North of Ireland when young, and were married in 1811.

He was one of the most prominent, able and influential members of the Pittsburgh Conference of the M. E. church. He was, for twelve years, editor of the Pittsburgh "Christian Advocate"; presiding elder, and pastor of some of the best charges in the conference.

He was a nailer by trade. He was converted in 1842, and entered Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania, in 1845, to prepare for the ministry. He was licensed as a local preacher November 3, 1843, and received on trial in the Pittsburgh Conference, Methodist Episcopal Church, in 1847. He was principal of Wellsburg, Virginia, Seminary, 1853-5; president of Richmond College, 1857-8; editor of the "Pittsburgh Christian Advocate," 1860-1872; presiding elder two terms, and afterward served as pastor of the churches at Monongahela, Butler and New Brighton, Pennsylvania, dying at the latter place while pastor.

Besides the children listed there were four that died young.
