General Notes: Husband - Joseph Thompson


He learned the chair-making trade in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, serving from 1815 to 1818. He worked for Patrick Hayes, one of the pioneer chair makers of Indiana, Pennsylvania, for about a year, and then purchased the establishment, managing the same for over thirty years. For several years the cabinet business was attached to his chair shop. For several years he was in the hardware business, having, as different partners, Archibald Stewart, Jr., and John C. Thompson, his son. He acted as associate judge for five years, and in several borough positions, as treasurer, tax collector, &c.
