General Notes: Husband - John Stephenson


At the age of ten years, he was brought to America by his father, about the close of the Revolution. The family remained in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, until the region that later became Mercer County was opened up to settlers.


General Notes: Wife - Jane Mortimer


She was a niece of the William Mortimer who was one of the trustees, with William McMillan and John Findley, to sell the lots of the borough of Mercer, Pennsylvania, to raise the funds with which to build the first jail and courthouse.
