General Notes: Husband - William Mortland


He was ten years of age when his parents came to Butler county. On attaining his majority, he settled on the farm now occu­pied by his son Newton, in Marion township, cleared and improved it, and resided there the balance of his days. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, was a Democrat in politics, and held various township offices during his residence in Butler County.
