In the spring of that year he came to Cumberland County and bought a farm in Monroe Township, afterward purchasing the old homestead farm in Silver Spring Township.
He was one of the founders of what eventually became the First National Bank of Mechanicsburg.
His second wife was the mother of six children; four were living in 1886.
