General Notes: Husband - Marion Andrew Myers

He received his education in the common schools of Venango County, PA, at Reid Institute, Reidsburg, Clarion County, PA, and at Smithfield (George's Creek Academy), Fayette County, PA. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., No. 952, Rockland. For two years he taught school in Venango County, and also served as school director. He followed the milling business after 1875, and was a stanch Democrat. [HVC 1890, 1126]

Venango Citizen-Press, Wednesday 24 June 1914
Marion Andrew Myers, one of the most widely-known men in this section, died in his home, one mile from this place, Friday evening, June 19th at 5:30, after an illness of only four hours. Mr. Myers had been busy as usual and apparently feeling his best all the morning. Failing to come in to dinner, the aged father (Solomon) went to seek him and found him lying helpless near the engine of the roller mill. He was carried to the home and medical aid summoned, but he never regained consciousness. A very heavy stroke of paralysis had stricken him. Mr. Myers was born in Rockland Twp. Dec 16, 1854, and was aged 59 year, 6 months and 3 days.
During his young childhood days he attended the old Dodson school and helped his father mornings and evenings in the mill Later on he attended Reid Institute at Reidsburg, (Clarion Co.) and when the esteemed Prof. Gilbert was transferred to Waynesburg, Mr. Myers followed him to that place to continue and complete his education, after which he taught school two years is Pinegrove township. He then returned to his father, who sorely needed him and was unable to spare him longer from the work in the mill and had remained with his father ever since.
He was married to Miss Margaret Rumbarger about 20 years ago, who died two years later. At the time of his death he was Justice of the Peace, which office he had held many years.
Mr. Myers was intellectually talented. His knowledge of the law was true and sure. Many are the men and women who have turned to him for help and advice and they always received it, and many times he refused recompense for his time and labor. He was a quiet, thoughtful man, kind in disposition; and his friends numbered equally with his vast number of acquaintances. He will be sorely missed in the community, in the home and especially by his aged father, who is in his 82nd year and has been severely shocked by his son's sudden death.
