General Notes: Husband - Edwin Samuel Naly

He was born on the homestead farm in Hempfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. His youthful days were passed on the home farm, where he was early obliged to assist in its cultivation, while his education was acquired in the public schools of his native township and in the Greensburg Seminary. He then put these educational acquirements to practical use by teaching in the schools of Penn and Hempfield townships. He accepted a clerkship in the A. P. A. wall paper store, in Greensburg, in 1888, and one year later turned his attention to reportorial work, becoming correspondent for Pittsburg and New York papers. He engaged in the insurance business in 1896. For some years he held a position as general agent for the Equitable Life Assurance Society, whose interests he materially and substantially advanced in the territory assigned to him. In his political proclivities Mr. Naly was a stanch advocate of the principles and policy of the Democratic party and, while he was never a seeker of public office, he served as auditor of the borough of Greensburg. He was a prominent member of the First Reformed church, in which he was an elder and took an active part in the various departments of the church work. He was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, in the local organization of which he passed the various official chairs, and he served for some time as state deputy of the order in Pennsylvania.
