He was educated in the public schools, attended St. Vincent's College a short time, and graduated at Duff's Commercial College in the class of 1878. He was teller in the First National Bank of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, for five years, and beginning Jan. 1, 1888, has assistant cashier and teller in the First National Bank, Homestead.

Later resided in Riverside, California.
