General Notes: Husband - John Nesbit

He was born in Roxburghshire, Scotland, and came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, previous to the American Revolution, finally settling in Cumberland County.

The Nesbits were followers of John Knox, and, like other dissenters, suffered persecution from the English Church. Portions of the old families went to Belfast, Ireland.
John Nesbit had made calculations to go to South America, but for some reason changed his mind, and came to Pennsylvania, probably about 1735.
