He was reared at Clear Spring, Washington County, Maryland, and was about fifty years of age when he came with his family to Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1816. That year he located on the farm in Conemaugh township where his son, Maj. Nathaniel Nesbitt, passed most of his life, and which was afterward owned by his heirs.
