General Notes: Husband - Jacob Neukomer

He was born in York County, Pennsylvania, and became a miller, an occupation he followed until his removal to Fayette County.

In 1808, when aged forty-two years, with wife Mary and four-year-old son, he crossed the mountains from York County to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and located on a farm near Masontown, where he ended his days as a farmer, preacher and teacher of the Mennonite faith. He did a great deal toward establishing that faith in Fayette County, assisting in the organization of the first Mennonite congregation and erecting the first church edifice of that sect in that section.

The farm of Jacob Neukomer was in German township in the part later set off as Nicholson township. He was a Democrat in politics.

Both he and his wife were buried in the "Newcomer graveyard" (for a long time neglected) where their resting places were marked by two modest slabs of stone marked with their names and death dates.

General Notes: Wife - Mary Newcomer

She and her husband may have been relatives, although not closely related. She may, however, have been a daughter of Peter or Henry, who were brothers of Christian Newcomer, the Moravian missionary, and a granddaughter of Wolfgang Newcomer, an entirely different family. This point cannot be determined\emdash her father's name being unknown.
