General Notes: Husband - Joshua Newbold

He and his brother Barzilla went to Iowa and were pioneers of Henry and Appanoose counties.

He was a Free Will Baptist minister and established the first church of that denomination in Crawford County, PA. Afterward he settled with his brother in Iowa, took up a claim of land, engaged in farming, entered politics and public life, and eventually became governor of the Hawkeye state. [HMC 1909, 1100. There seems to be some confusion among the generations here. HMC 1909 makes a similar statement about Joshua, the son of his brother Barzilla.]
