He spent his whole life on a farm, which he purchased from his father. He raised the usual crops, corn, oats and hay, and enough cattle and stock for his own use, managing all his farming operations.
The family belonged to the Lutheran Church. In politics, Mr. Rader was a Democrat. He served as a member of the School Board.
