General Notes: Husband - Dr. John C. Russell

He received his education in West Sunbury Academy and Grove City College, Pennsylvania. After completing his course at the latter institution he began the study of medicine with Dr. N. M. Hoover, of North Hope, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1884 from the Western Reserve University (medical department) of Cleveland, Ohio. In March of the same year he settled in North Clarendon, Warren County, Pennsylvania, and for one year thereafter was in partnership with Dr. J. W. Heath, but after the dissolution of the connection he practiced alone. His field was a large one, including not his own county alone, but extending to those adjoining, and his practice was general and extensive. In 1885 he purchased a drug store, which he conducted successfully for two years, his office being in the rear of the store. He was at various times engaged in oil production in a number of fields. In 1892, in company with A. W. Storey, Dr. Russell purchased the Wall & Swisher oil refinery at North Clarendon.
Dr. Russell always took a deep interest in the public welfare, contributing largely to the growth and development of the community where he resided. He served on the school board for fifteen years, performing his part faithfully and well. At one time he served as county chairman of the Progressive party. In 1912 he was a delegate to the national Republican convention from twenty-eight Congressional districts of Pennsylvania, and was also a delegate to the Progressive convention held in Chicago in August, 1912. His views on the subject of religion were of a broad and general character independent of churches and creeds. He was a member of County, State and National Medical societies, being one of the official members in the county organization. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, member of Grand Council, Royal Arcanum, beginning in 1885, and of the Supreme Council since 1899, and received over six elections from the floor. He was also supreme medical examiner of the Keystone Benefit Society, of which he was a charter member, also member of P. H. C. Society. [GPHAV, 908]

General Notes: Wife - Alice O'Donnell

She was a member of the Roman Catholic church.
