General Notes: Husband - C. M. Rice

When he was about three years of age his parents removed from Erie County, Pennsylvania, to the vicinity of Sandy Lake, Mercer County. He received his education in Mercer County, and began his business career in Pardoe. In December, 1862, he located at Sharon, opening a book store which developed into the leading establishment of its kind in the place.
He was a member of the I. O. O. F. and the P. H. C., and both he and his family were identified with the Presbyterian church. He was for many years an elder in that denomination and besides establishing a large and substantial business, was one of the incorporators of the Sharon Building and Loan Association.
