He was a justice of the peace for twenty-one years, and an elder in the Associate, and its successor, the United Presbyterian, Church, for twenty-three years. He erected, in 1852, the brick Presbyterian Church of West Lebanon, and successively, 1856, Shelocta U. P.; 1857, (reconstructed) West Union U. P.; (erected) 1877, West Union U. P.; 1878, West Lebanon Presbyterian, and 1879, Elder's Ridge Presbyterian Church.
