General Notes: Husband - John Taggart

He became a bank clerk in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where his mother afterwards joined him. Later in life he became a manufacturer of shoes like his older brother.

His brother, James, was the first to leave their native land and located at Montreal, Canada, where he engaged in the shoe business. He was followed by his widowed mother and the remainder of the family in 1820. They remained a short time in Montreal, then Mrs. Taggart and the two younger sons located at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where John engaged in the shoe manufacturing business with great success. He was a Democrat in politics, and a member of the Associate Reformed Church.
