General Notes: Husband - Robert Orr

He was educated in the common schools and was taught how to farm. Early in the beginning of the Civil War he responded to the call for defenders of the Union, enlisting in Company K, Sixty-third Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served nearly four years. He was slightly wounded at the battle of Bull Run, and participated in the battle of Gettysburg and many others with the Army of the Potomac.
He was elected county treasurer of Mercer County in 1881 and served one term. In 1885 he pur-chased a stock of boots and shoes and began a prosperous business. He was also a pioneer in the fire insur-ance business at Mercer, Pennsylvania. He and his wife belonged to the Second Presbyterian Church, and he was a stanch Republican.
