General Notes: Husband - William Palm

He was born in 1823. [HMC 1909, 664] He died in 1895. [HMC 1909, 664]

He received a good common school education and pursued the calling of an agriculturist, and in this was reasonably successful. He was of German lineage. He came with his parents to Mercer County, PA, at the age of seven years and here spent his life. At the beginning of his business career he was left a small farm, and he added to this until he owned one hundred and twelve acres. He was a great friend of the public schools. Politically he was a Republican. [HMC 1909, 664]

There seems to be some confusion between this man and another William Palm. The HMC 1909, 664 & 671 both give this William Palm as the son of John and Hannah. GPHWP, 1645, states the other William Palm was the son of John and Hannah (Flick) Palm - but the editor appends a question mark to this. HMC 1888, 1100, gives another couple as the parents of the other William Palm.
GPHWP, 1645 gives the earlier generations of this family, and if the dates given there are correct, and the dates for John and Hannah, given in HMC 1909, are also correct, the compiler speculates that a generation may have been skipped between them - and this may hold the key.
