General Notes: Husband - Israel Patterson

He was reared on a farm, where he was trained to agricultural pursuits. He received his education in the subscription schools of that day. He made the choice of farming as a life pursuit and became a farmer after leaving school. He owned a large farm of two hundred and five acres of valuable land in Rostraver township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. While attending to his farm he was engaged in raising and dealing in stock and was successful in that line of business. In politics he was a stanch republican from principle and served his township as school director and road supervisor.
