General Notes: Husband - Israel Painter

Jacob and Israel Painter, the two eldest sons of George and Polly (Stantz) Painter, received a common school education. They farmed with their father, who settled their farm in 1841. During the Civil War their father removed to the Dinsmore farm, leaving the old homestead to Jacob and Israel. These two brothers resided continuously on the farm, which they cultivated to a high state of perfection. Both were members of the Lutheran church, Jacob serving in the capacity of deacon at Irwin, and Israel at Adamsburg. They were Democrats in politics, Jacob casting his first vote for President Buchanan.
