General Notes: Husband - George Harvey Wilson

He grew to man's estate in Wayne township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and made his first purchase of land when he bought his father's homestead of eighty-three acres, which was slightly improved. He placed his farm among the finest in the county, and it became second to none. Besides keeping a small choice dairy, Mr. Wilson raised some standard Percheron horses, and held the reins over the best team in the county. He remodeled his buildings, and, in addition to carrying on general farming as a main pursuit, was associated with L. L. and I. J. Wilson, under the firm name of Wilson Bros. & Co., in operating the Duck Run Quarry, and also the quarry at Rock Point in Beaver County. Later he superintended a stone quarry for Wilson Bros., and to this work he devoted a large portion of his time. [BOBLC, 399]

He was reared on the farm, and attended public school at Hopedale, Pennsylvania, after which he followed several lines of work for a number of years. He worked at the stone business for a period of seven years, after which time he farmed. About 1883 he purchased a farm of eighty-two acres in Wayne Township, it being a part of the old William Simley farm. A man of energy and good business capabilities, he met with success in farming, and had one of the best improved farms in his locality.
At one time he was a member of the Patrons of Husbandry. He was a Republican in national politics, but locally reserved the right to vote independently. He served some years as township clerk.
