General Notes: Husband - William Palm

In his youth he had learned the carpenter's trade, and occasionally did some building, but he devoted the greater part of his life to agricultural work. In political opinion he was a Democrat, and he served as school director and road supervisor. In 1847 he purchased a farm in Sandy Creek township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.

There is some confusion about the parentage of this man. HMC 1888, 1100, makes him clearly the son of John and Sally (Beil) Palm. GPHWP, 1645, states his parents were John and Hannah (Flick) Palm - but the editor appends a question mark to this. The HMC 1909, 664 & 671 both give a different William Palm as the son of John and Hannah.
GPHWP, 1645 gives the earlier generations of this family, and if the dates given there are correct, and the dates for John and Hannah, given in HMC 1909, are also correct, the compiler speculates that a generation may have been skipped between them - and this may hold the key.
