General Notes: Husband - James Wakefield

He was born on the old family homestead and was reared there. He taught school for twenty-five years, became a civil engineer, and followed surveying in Indiana County, becoming very well known in the pursuit of his profession. He also owned a farm and followed agricultural pursuits. For about forty years he served as justice of the peace in West Wheatfield township, being commonly known as "Squire" Wakefield, and he also served as school director of that township. In politics he was associated with the Democratic party.
He was buried in the family plot on the farm.
He and his wife were the parents of ten children; four of them died young.
