General Notes: Husband - James Pantall

He and his wife were natives of England. They came to America with two children, in 1825, taking up his residence in Philipsburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania. There he worked for Hardman Philips, who established one of the first screw factories in the United States. He was a miller by trade, however, and afterward conducted business along that line at Port Barnett, Jefferson County, until 1839, when he came to Punxsutawney. Here he had charge of Dr. John Jenks' mills for five years, and then purchased and moved to a farm, later owned by his son, John R. Pantall. There he spent the remainder of his life, and in his agricultural pursuits won prosperity.
