Butler, Butler Co, PA

He was reared on his father's farm. He was educated in the public schools and at Curry Institute in Pittsburgh, taking a full course at the latter institution, after which he engaged in teaching school for seven years. From youth he was interested in agricultural pursuits and owned one of the best managed farms in Middlesex Township, Butler County.

He served as county treasurer of Butler County, Pennsylvania, for five years, and was later superintendent of the Winters Construction Company.

His first wife died leaving two children; He had four children with his second wife.
