General Notes: Husband - Samuel Jackson Paul

He was born in Washington township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. When he was one year old his parents moved to Kiskiminetas river and shortly after settled on a farm in Bell township, which later became the site of the village of Perryville. In 1839 they moved to a farm in Salem township, below Tree's mill. Mr. Paul was thus, from his early infancy, accustomed to farm life, receiving his education in the schools of the neighborhood. After his marriage he spent two years in Loyalhanna township, and in 1856 purchased a farm one mile east of New Salem, on which he erected a neat cottage the following year.
Politically he was an active Republican, though never a candidate for office. He was one of the trustees of the New Salem Presbyterian church.
