He came to America from Holland and settled in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. [HWC 1906 ii, 244]

He inherited the Peairs homestead in Elizabeth township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and there lived until his death.
He and his wife had nine children, eight growing to mature years.
