He was born on the home place and lived there all his life. He attended the public schools of the district and in early days assisted in clearing up the farm. He engaged in farming and stock raising, and met with success, particularly in raising draft horses. He was a Republican in politics, and in early years took an active interest in the success of his party. He served on the election board two years, at different times. He was unmarried, and he and his sister, Miss Eliza Jane Peebles, were the last of the family left at the old home.
