North East Sun, North East, Erie Co., PA
Friday, April 15,
Mrs. Chauncy Prindle died April 7th at her home in Greenfield. She was wife of Chauncy Prindle, Sr. Death was caused by an aggravated disease of the throat which physicians pronounced a cancer, but proved to be very painful swellings, gathering and breaking outside repeatedly in several places discharging putrid matter in large quantities. Deceased was a woman who was held in high esteem by a large circle of acquaintances, a kind and dutiful wife and loving mother. She was ever faithful and uncomplaining in her long siege of care of Mr. Prindle who has been an invalid for many years and she had the sole care of him night and day with the exception of help to lift him, until she was obliged to give him into the hands of others on account of her own affliction. Mr. P. sustains a serious loss and has the sympathy of all in his bereavement. She is only a step before him -- over the river he will soon follow. Deceased leaves one daughter, Mrs. Ella Darling, and four sons, Lyman, Ransom A., Charles and Chauncey, and a host of relatives and friends as mourners, yet hoping and trusting when life's fitful dream is o'er to meet on the golden shore. The funeral was held at the residence on the 9th inst., Rev. James Bogart officiating. Remains were laid to rest in the Hoage burying ground, there to wait resurrection morn.
