General Notes: Husband - John Pilson

He was reared on his father's farm and attended the subscription schools of that period, in which he received a practical education. He lived a quiet and peaceful life and devoted his time to farming and stockraising. He owned one hundred and sixty acres of the homestead farm, which was four miles from Indiana, Pennsylvania. He kept his farm in fine condition and raised good crops of grain and grass. He never married, and Nancy J. Griffith, a daughter of his sister, Mrs. Susanna Griffith, kept house for him.
Mr. Pilson never gave time or attention to any other business than that of farming and stock-raising. He was a stanch republican in politics, and while taking no active part in political life, he had decided opinions of his own concerning public affairs, which he formed by closely watching the course of the political parties of the United States from the time when Andrew Jackson was first a candidate for president in 1824.
Like his father, He was a conscientious member of the Presbyterian church.
