General Notes: Husband - John Barnhart

He was known as "Honey John" and "Apple John" from his skill in bee and fruit culture, and also to distinguish him from two other John Barnharts, cousins.

He was a successful farmer and served for many years as an officer of the Reformed church. He was a strong Democrat. He and his wife had seven children, of whom four were still living in 1890.

He was one of the active members of the Reformed church, who organized the Second Reformed congregation of Greensburg. He was on the building committee, and was one of the best contributors to the church which was dedicated in 1852. He was an elder in this congregation until his death.
