General Notes: Husband - William Porter


He was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he was taught agriculture, and attended the English type of schools. During his early life he kept a tavern in eastern Pennsylvania, and in 1827 moved to a place in Jefferson township, Washington County, where he followed farming; he voted with the Democratic party.

He kept a hotel along the National pike, two miles from Monongahela City, Pennsylvania.

He and his wife were the parents of ten sons and two daughters, those not listed did not grow to maturity.
