General Notes: Husband - Samuel H. Purdy

He was educated in the public schools of his native township and the high school at Clinton, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Upon the completion of his education he devoted his time and attention to farming, buying land located in Murdocksville, Independence township, Beaver County, in 1884. His farm consisted of one hundred acres upon which he had made many improvements. He and his wife were members of the Clinton United Presbyterian Church. In political matters he was a strong Republican, and filled a number of public offices. He became assessor in 1903, and was also registrar.
