General Notes: Husband - John Alexander Quay

He was educated in public schools and in the Finlay (Ohio) High School, and in Geneva College. He began his business career with the Union Drawn Steel Company, entering its production department, and was identified with that concern throughout his business life. He was appointed assistant purchasing agent under E. S. Hoopes, then purchasing agent and later vice-president and general manager of the company, and when Mr. Hoopes attained the latter position, Mr. Quay succeeded him as purchasing agent. This was in 1918, and later Mr. Quay acquired the position of advertising manager, the duties of which he executed, in addition to those of purchasing agent.
Mr. Quay was a Republican. He was a member of Beaver Lodge, No. 457, Free and Accepted Masons; of the Commandery, Knights Templar; of Syria Temple, Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, in Pittsburgh; of Rochester Lodge, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; of Fort McIntosh Club, of Beaver; the Lambskin Club, of Beaver; the Beaver Falls Chamber of Commerce; and the Beaver Young Men's Christian Association, in which he was a director. In all of those organizations Mr. Quay was particularly active in sports. At Geneva College he was well known as an athlete and earned his letters in track, football and basketball. He and his family attended the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver.
