He attended Frankfort Springs Academy until the age of nineteen, and read medicine with his father. At nineteen he entered Cleveland (Ohio) Medical College, where he graduated in 1877. He first located at Clinton, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and after eighteen months removed to West Bridgewater, Beaver County; two years later he formed a partnership with his father. In April, 1885, he located in Coraopolis, Allegheny County, where he then practiced his profession. He was a member of the Beaver County Medical association, the I. O. O. F., Jr. O. U. A. M. and K. O. T. M. Coraopolis lodges.
