General Notes: Husband - Samuel C. Rankin

He was a farmer and well-known citizen of Elizabeth township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and served one term as director of the poor of the county.

He was born in Ireland, about three miles from Londonderry, and was partly educated in his native land, completing his education in the public schools of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He early engaged in farming, which he followed for many years. He was elected poor-director of the county in 1883, serving two years, and was treasurer of his township, a position he filled for many years.
