General Notes: Husband - Alexander B. Reed

He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. At the age of twenty-five years, while at Big Island [Lock Haven, Clinton County], he met John Ferguson and came with him to Clearfield County, in the winter of 1811. He made his home for a time with the family of Hugh Hall. He married and took up land about a mile north of Hall's place, but did not occupy it at once.
His parents and other members of their family followed him to Clearfield County about two years later (1813).

Being a close contemporary with the younger Alexander Read (his brother-in-law) they were nicknamed respectively "Black Alex." (Reed) and "Red Alex." (Read) for their contrasting shades of hair.
